Devotees Gather In Somnath Ahead Of PM Modi’s Amrut Mahotsav Visit

Large crowds of devotees, artists and visitors gathered in Gujarat’s Somnath ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav on Monday, marking 75 years since the inauguration of the restored Somnath Temple.

Preparations for the grand celebrations have been underway across the historic temple town, with authorities making extensive security arrangements and organising elaborate cultural and welcome programmes ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival.

During the visit, PM Modi will offer prayers at the Somnath Temple and participate in religious, administrative and community-related programmes in Gir Somnath and Vadodara districts.

The Prime Minister will participate in Vishesh Maha Puja, Kumbhabhishek and Dhvajarohan ceremonies and release a commemorative stamp and coin marking 75 years of the restored Somnath Temple.

Thousands of devotees and artists in traditional attire have gathered in Somnath, where cultural groups are preparing garba, folk music and dance performances to welcome PM Modi.

The Gujarat Rajya Lok Kala Mahasangh said more than 220 artists will showcase the state’s cultural heritage, while devotees described the atmosphere as vibrant and festive ahead of the celebrations.

As part of the special events, the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team will conduct an aerial display above the Somnath Temple complex.

The demonstration will feature six Hawk Mk-132 aircraft performing coordinated aerobatic formations over Prabhas Patan in the presence of the Prime Minister.

Wing Commander Janmeet Sharma said the air show forms part of the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team’s scheduled demonstrations and will add to the grandeur of the celebrations.

The Somnath Amrut Mahotsav is expected to witness large participation from devotees, artists and dignitaries as Gujarat commemorates the 75th anniversary of the reconstruction and inauguration of one of India’s most revered temples.
