Deputy CM Expresses Shock Over Lenient Punishment for Minor Accused in Accident

The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra expressed his shock over the lenient approach adopted by the Juvenile Justice Board in the Pune car accident. The Board had asked the minor, whose car collided with the motorbike, to do social service for 15 days and write an essay.

Fadnavis said that the revision application has been filed by the police and the police will continue to explore every way possible to serve Justice.

Addressing a press conference in Pune, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “The incident that happened in Pune in which two young people died is disturbing.”

“I took a meeting with the police officials and took stock of what has happened and what action will be taken,” Fadnavis added.

Before the press conference, Fadnavis held a meeting with Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and another senior official at the CP office.

In the early hours of Sunday, a luxury car collided with a motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune, resulting in a horrific accident that caused the death of two young people.

The bar owner and bar manager, who served the liquor to the minor have also been arrested by the Pune City Police. The father of the accused minor has also been sent to the jail.

“According to the application moved by police, it was written that the boy’s age was 17 years and 8 months. This is heinous crime. After the Nirbhaya cade, the change in the Juvenile Justice case were that if the accused is over 16 years of age and the crime is heinous, the accused can be treated as an adult,” Fadnavis Said while talkin to the press.
