Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory Ahead Of PM Modi’s Rohini Inauguration

The Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory for commuters as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to inaugurate two major highway projects worth nearly ₹11,000 crore in Rohini on Sunday.

In a post on X on Saturday, the police advised motorists to avoid the Tikri Border, Peeragarhi and Rohini areas between 6 AM and 2 PM due to expected traffic disruptions.

The Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) will remain closed for the day.

Authorities will also shut Rohtak Road from Peeragarhi to Tikri Border, along with all connecting roads in both directions.

Authorities will impose restrictions on Bhagwan Mahavir Road and adjoining routes such as Bawana Road, Kanjhawala Road, Kanjhawala Link Road, and Badsha Dahiya Marg.

Restrictions on Commercial Vehicles

The advisory prohibits commercial vehicles from using Rohtak Road between Tikri Border and Peeragarhi in both directions.

Designated diversion points for heavy vehicles include Tikri Border, Ghevra More, Mundka Red Light, Nangloi Chowk, Bakkarwala More, Jharoda Road under Bahadurgarh Flyover Toll, and Jharoda Nala under Bahadurgarh Flyover leading to UER-II.

Vehicles moving towards Rohini from the Ring Road will face diversions. Routes affected include Madhuban Chowk, Outer Ring Road KN Katju Marg Crossing, Outer Ring Road–Rohini Jail Road Crossing, Deepali Chowk, Jaipur Golden Hospital Crossing and Mahadev Chowk.

The advisory further recommended that motorists heading from Tikri Border to Peeragarhi avoid Rohtak Road and instead take the Jharoda–Najafgarh–Nangloi Road.

The Delhi Traffic Police encouraged residents within Rohini to use KN Katju Marg, Rohini Jail Marg, and other alternative routes.

The Delhi Traffic Police urged commuters to plan and consider public transport, particularly the metro.

“In view of the event, commuters should plan their routes in advance and consider alternative roads to avoid inconvenience,” the advisory read.

The Delhi Traffic Police strongly advised people travelling along Rohtak Road between Tikri Border and Peeragarhi or towards Rohini to opt for metro services on August 17.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).

Built at a combined cost of nearly ₹11,000 crore, these projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity in the National Capital Region.

Officials said the new infrastructure would help reduce congestion, cut travel time, and ease pressure on existing road networks.
