Fresh developments emerged on Monday as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched searches across Kashmir. The operation, assisted by the J&K Police and the CRPF, is part of the ongoing investigation into the recent Delhi terror blast.
Officials confirmed that NIA personnel fanned out across the Valley, carrying out coordinated raids at ten separate sites.
According to officials, “The locations raided by the NIA today include the houses of Moulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Dr Adil Rather, Dr Muzammil Ganai, Amir Rashid, Jasir Bilal Wani and others. The raids were carried out in Nadigam village of Shopian, Koil, Chandgam, Malangpora, and Samboora villages of Pulwama.”
Investigators were looking for material that could shed further light on the white-collar terror network. They believe this network is linked to the Delhi blast.
“NIA has so far arrested six accused in connection with the Delhi blast case. At least 13 people were killed and several others injured after a high-intensity blast ripped through a car near the Red Fort area on November 10,” officials reported.
The vehicle, an i20 packed with explosives, was being driven by Dr Umar Nabi from Koil village in Pulwama.
He remains absconding after his alleged associates, Dr Adil Rather of Qazigund and Dr Muzammil Ganai of Koil, were detained by J&K Police and Haryana Police when a terror module was uncovered in Faridabad.
The capture of two overground workers (OGWs) belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group first brought investigators to Faridabad. There, they dismantled a network reportedly operated by Kashmiri doctors employed at Al-Falah University.
A massive haul was recovered during this operation. It included more than 2,900 kilograms of explosive material and electronic detonation devices.
Among those arrested was a woman doctor from Lucknow, identified as Dr Shaheed Saeed. She had married Dr Muzammil Ganai and was employed as a pharmacologist at Al-Falah University before her arrest.
