Delhi Police Bust Illegal LPG Racket; 183 Cylinders Seized

In a major enforcement action, the Delhi Police Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) uncovered an illegal LPG racket in Sangam Vihar, South Delhi. A total of 183 Indane cylinders were seized, and four suspects, all authorised delivery workers, were taken into custody.

Following credible intelligence inputs, officials carried out simultaneous searches at three rented locations in the L Block area.

The operation was overseen by ACP Satendra Mohan. It led to the seizure of 154 filled and 29 empty cylinders, along with tools used for unauthorised gas transfer. This highlighted serious safety and legal violations.

Investigators found that the accused, Sher Singh, Suraj Parihar, Raghu Raj Singh, and Jitender Sharma, were siphoning off small quantities of LPG from filled cylinders and transferring it into empty ones using crude equipment.

These cylinders were then sold at inflated prices in the open market to earn незаконный profits.

At the first site, police recovered 58 filled and 7 empty cylinders with related equipment. The second location yielded 59 filled and 7 empty cylinders, while the third had 37 filled and 15 empty cylinders. Each premises was equipped with weighing scales and tools used for refilling.

DCP (ANTF) Rahool Alwal stated that the accused misused the LPG distribution system by diverting supplies meant for consumers.

A case has been filed under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, along with provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is in progress.

Delhi Police reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict action against illegal handling of essential goods.

Officials, however, stated that such operations will continue to ensure fair distribution and protect consumers from exploitation.
