Delhi Metro Restores Entry At Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House And Central Secretariat

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) resumed passenger entry at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat Metro stations on Saturday after temporarily restricting access because of enhanced security arrangements in Central Delhi.

Earlier in the day, the DMRC suspended entry and exit at 18 Metro stations as a precautionary measure amid student demonstrations near Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and examination irregularities.

The affected stations included Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan and New Delhi.

The DMRC later announced that passengers could once again use the entry gates at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations.

The Metro operator did not immediately confirm whether it had lifted restrictions at the remaining affected stations.

Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation as Union Education Minister shortly after nationwide protests erupted over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.

Pradhan said the developments of the previous 10 days had deeply distressed him and that he resigned to safeguard students’ futures and prevent anti-national elements from exploiting the situation. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and support, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the education system and serving the country’s youth.
