Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Meets President Droupadi Murmu At Rashtrapati Bhavan

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. The two leaders exchanged views on inclusive growth and constitutional values, officials confirmed.

Taking to X, CM Gupta posted, “Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble President Smt Droupadi Murmu Ji at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”

“While discharging the highest constitutional responsibility of the country, her humble personality, unwavering commitment to inclusive development, and firm faith in the values of the Constitution serve as a guiding light for all of us. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President Ji for sparing her valuable time,” the post further added.

The meeting followed a major policy announcement a day earlier.

CM Gupta unveiled initiatives to strengthen welfare measures for construction workers and accelerate rural development in the national capital.

At a public event at Thyagaraj Stadium on Wednesday, the Chief Minister supervised the direct transfer of over Rs 12.40 crore.

Authorities credited the funds to the bank accounts of 15,706 children of registered construction workers. The assistance, however, aims to support their education.

During the same programme, CM Gupta inaugurated the newly built panchayat offices in two villages. She also laid foundation stones for 59 development schemes spanning 37 villages.

Officials estimate the combined outlay at Rs 134 crore. The projects seek to upgrade infrastructure and civic facilities in rural Delhi.

Addressing thousands of workers, CM Gupta emphasised labour’s central role in Delhi’s expansion. She further stated that workers build the city through their effort and skill. She affirmed that the government prioritises their safety, dignity and long-term security.

The event drew Labour and Employment Minister Kapil Mishra, Delhi Village Development Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, senior departmental officials and other public representatives.

CM Gupta criticised previous administrations for underutilising cess funds earmarked for worker welfare. She further asserted that the current BJP government has redirected its focus towards labour welfare.

Under the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board’s education scheme, eligible students receive graded financial aid.

Pupils in Classes 1 to 8 obtain Rs 500 per month. Students in Classes 9 and 10 receive Rs 700. Those in Classes 11 and 12 get Rs 1,000 monthly. Undergraduates qualify for Rs 3,000 per month.

Additionally, students pursuing ITI, polytechnic, engineering, medical and MBA courses may receive up to Rs 10,000 per month.
