Dalit Man Killed, Mother Stripped Over Sister’s Sexual Harassment Case In Madhya Pradesh

The victim has been coerced to drop a sexual harassment lawsuit his sister filed against Singh in 2019 by eight members of the accused family.

In the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, police reported on Saturday that a 20-year-old Dalit man was allegedly beaten to death and his 49-year-old mother was stripped after they refused to drop a sexual harassment complaint brought forth by the victim’s sister. They also stated that all nine of the accused had been apprehended.

The tragedy happened late on Thursday in the Sagar district’s Barodia Naunagir village.

The victim and his family have allegedly been coerced by the principal defendant, Vikram Singh (28), and eight members of his family to drop the sexual harassment claim that the victim’s sister had made against Singh

Forcing to withdraw the case

Vikram Singh has been lobbying authorities to drop the case ever since he was charged with sexually harassing the victim’s sister in 2019. On Thursday, Singh and the victim got into a fight at his house that quickly got out of hand. Later, the main suspect summoned his family members, who joined him in attacking the victim and his mother, according to supplementary Sagar police superintendent Lokesh Sinha.

The victim’s mother was also violated by the accused, according to Nitin Pal, the Khurai police station’s commander.

While his mother is receiving treatment, the victim’s brother hurried the two to Bundelkhand Medical College, where the doctors declared him dead when they arrived, Pal continued.

According to RC Pandey, the director of Bundelkhand Medical College, the woman suffered just minor wounds and a hand fracture. It is reported that her condition is stable.

Charges were filed

According to the victim’s family’s complaint, the police have filed charges against each of the nine suspects under sections 302 (murder), 353 (sexual harassment), and 323 (willful infliction of grievous bodily harm) of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989). He continued, “All accused have been detained.”

The victim’s family, however, has refused to cremate him because they want the perpetrators to be brought to justice. They are also pleading with the authorities to destroy the accused’s home.
Later, the family members were seen by Deepak Arya, the collector for the Sagar district, who promised them strict action. The body was burned by the family that evening.
