Manish Sisodia
A court determined on Saturday that Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, will remain in CBI custody for at least two more days.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader, who is under investigation regarding the recently revoked Delhi liquor sales policy, requested bail; his application will now be reviewed on Friday.
The CBI was ordered by special judge MK Nagpal to bring the Aam Aadmi Party leader before the court on Monday.
After Mr. Sisodia was brought before the court at the conclusion of his previously granted three-day remand, the CBI requested three further days of custody of him.
According to Mr. Sisodia’s attorney, the “inefficiency of the agency” in completing the investigation cannot be a justification for remand and he cannot be required to incriminate himself.
Following the announcement of the order, Mr. Sisodia informed the court that despite receiving good treatment while in the CBI’s custody, he was subjected to mental harassment in the form of repeated repetitions of the same questions.
The CBI was subsequently instructed by the court not to ask the same inquiries of him.
A corruption charge against Mr. Sisodia stems from the creation of the national capital’s alcohol policy, which was abandoned after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena raised it with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The CBI detained the 51-year-old on Sunday. On Tuesday, he left the Delhi government.
Mr. Sisodia had appealed the CBI’s action to the Supreme Court a day after his arrest.

However, the court informed him that he ought to have gone to the high court; as a result, Mr. Sisodia withdrew his motion and declared that he would proceed to the trial court.
For the hearing, the Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force, and Central Reserve Police Force were all heavily posted outside the CBI headquarters.
