A political row has erupted between the Congress and BJP over a distorted map displayed at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Belagavi, Karnataka. The BJP accused Congress of showcasing a “distorted” map of India that excluded Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin.
Congress dismissed the claims as ‘misinformation’ and accused the BJP of diverting attention from pressing issues. Speaking to a news media platform, Congress leader Ravinder Sharma said, “Jammu and Kashmir, including PoK, is an integral part of India. The BJP is trying to create distractions.”
Sharma stated that the allegations were baseless and aimed at defaming Congress ahead of its 140th Foundation Day. “Congress has always stood for unity and national integrity,” he said.
He also highlighted the party’s historical contributions, asserting, “We’ve united Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. BJP, in contrast, thrives on dividing communities.”

The CWC meeting, held on December 26 and 27, marks the centenary of the 1924 Congress session led by Mahatma Gandhi. Top leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi are attending the event, which celebrates the party’s legacy.
Congress alleged that BJP is exploiting religious and regional divides for political gains. “Instead of addressing its failures, BJP is spreading lies,” Sharma added.
The controversy comes amidst growing political tensions, with Congress and BJP trading barbs over nationalism and governance ahead of key state and national elections.
