Congress’ Bihar-Bidi Post Triggers Political Storm; NDA Leaders Launch Offensive

A controversial post from the Kerala unit of the Congress party comparing Bihar with bidis sparked massive outrage in the state on Thursday.

The official handle of @INCKerala wrote, “Bidis and Bihar start from B. Cannot be considered a sin anymore.” The post was later deleted after it triggered backlash.

NDA Leaders Condemn Remark

Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary condemned the comment, accusing Congress of repeatedly insulting the state.

“They first insulted the mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and now they are insulting the entire Bihar. This is the real character of Congress, which the nation has now seen clearly,” Choudhary declared.

JD(U) chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar also denounced the post, saying the INDIA bloc had made insulting Bihar its political identity.

“Sometimes it’s bidi, sometimes taunts on Biharis. Bihar is the land of Buddha, Sita, and Sufi saints. Tejashwi Yadav must answer — is Bihar a synonym of bidi? The public will reply through EVMs,” Kumar stated.

Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh launched a scathing attack on Congress, calling Rahul Gandhi ‘brainless’ and alleging, “Rahul’s malicious Congress always insults Bihar, their destruction is certain.”

The controversy erupted at a sensitive time, as NDA leaders had already been campaigning aggressively over derogatory remarks allegedly made against Prime Minister Modi’s late mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.

PM Modi himself had described that attack as not only an insult to his mother but to the entire nation. In response, the BJP called for a Bihar Bandh on Thursday, with NDA leaders staging protests across the state.

NDA Frames Issue as Bihari Pride

The Kerala Congress post added ‘fuel to the fire’, escalating tensions further. NDA leaders are now framing the issue as an assault on Bihari pride and self-respect.

With Assembly elections approaching, NDA strategists believe this controversy will serve as a potent weapon to corner the RJD-Congress alliance and sharpen their campaign narrative in the coming months.
