Congress 2024 Lok Sabha Manifesto: Key Promises and Highlights Revealed

The Congress party unveiled its manifesto, dubbed ‘Nyay Patra,’ for the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections on April 5, marking a significant moment in the political landscape. Key party figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, and P Chidambaram were among those present during the highly anticipated release event.

Under the overarching theme of ‘Paanch Nyay’ (Five Justices) and ‘Pachees Guarantee’ (Twenty-Five Guarantees), the manifesto outlined the party’s vision and commitments. One of the pivotal announcements was the intention to conduct a nationwide socio-economic and caste census, a move aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of societal dynamics.

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram set the tone for the event by highlighting the party’s perspective on the current state of affairs in India under the BJP’s governance. He lamented the erosion of democracy and institutions, attributing it to the ruling party’s policies. – Ensuring apprenticeship opportunities for diploma holders and graduates below the age of 25 through a new Apprenticeship Act.

– Launching an urban employment program to provide job guarantees for the urban poor in infrastructure development projects.

– Reserving 50% of central government jobs for women starting from 2025, aiming to enhance gender representation in the workforce.
