Commercial Cooking Cylinder Soars By Rs 39 While Jet Fuel Price Cut By 4.6%

In a latest development in gas and fuel market, jet fuel or ATF has been reduced by 4.6 percent on the other hand prices of commercial cooking cylinders have surged by 39 rupees per 19 kg cylinder.  The change comes in line of the monthly change with international oil price trend.

The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has been reduced by ₹4,495.5 per kilolitre, or 4.58 percent, bringing it down to ₹93,480.22 per kilolitre in the national capital.

This price cut is expected to alleviate some of the financial pressure on airlines, where fuel accounts for nearly 40 percent of operating costs.

The reduction comes after two consecutive monthly price hikes. On August 1, jet fuel prices were raised by 2 percent, or ₹1,827.34 per kilolitre, followed by a 1.2 percent increase of ₹1,179.37 per kilolitre. These increases followed a significant 6.5 percent decrease, or ₹6,673.87 per kilolitre, implemented on June 1.

In Mumbai, the ATF price was lowered on Sunday from ₹91,650.34 per kilolitre to ₹87,432.78 per kilolitre.

Prices vary across states due to differing local taxes.

Additionally, oil companies raised the price of commercial LPG by ₹39, bringing the cost of a 19-kg cylinder to ₹1,691.50.

This marks the second consecutive monthly increase, following a ₹6.5 per cylinder hike on August 1. These two price increases come after four consecutive monthly reductions, during which rates were cut by a total of ₹148 per 19-kg cylinder.

However, the price of cooking gas for domestic households remains unchanged at ₹803 per 14.2-kg cylinder.

State-owned companies—Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd—adjust prices of ATF and cooking gas on the first of every month, based on the average international benchmark fuel price and the foreign exchange rate.
