Cobrapost Alleges ₹278.29 Crore Dealings Between Former DGGI Officer And Kamla Pasand

Investigative outlet Cobrapost has alleged financial dealings between former Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) superintendent Ravinder Singh Sangwan and the Kamla Pasand pan masala group.

Its report, Kamla Pasand’s Consigliere, says Sangwan’s firms routed ₹278.29 crore for the group during the four years following his retirement in April 2022.

The report states that Sangwan set up Indus FMCG Goods LLP on May 6, Indus Prompt Legals LLP on May 16 and Ramo Homes LLP on May 23, 2022.

Cobrapost alleges that Indus FMCG Goods struck an exclusive deal with Kamla Kant & Company LLP, owner of the Kamla Pasand and Rajshree brands.

The firm reportedly bought brand-licensing services from the company and resold them to nine related businesses, collecting ₹278.29 crore.

It allegedly transferred ₹251.79 crore to Kamla Kant & Company and retained ₹26.50 crore.

The report says the roughly 9.52 per cent annual margin could represent a fixed commission rather than commercial profit.

Cobrapost also claims Sangwan and his family acquired 17 properties worth ₹50.87 crore over eight years, against recorded income of about ₹37.60 crore.

The report says they bought a three-storey building in Safdarjung Enclave, South Delhi, for ₹15 crore within two weeks of his retirement.

It further alleges that Sangwan’s son, Shantanu Singh, holds property worth ₹21.60 crore across Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The report says Sangwan did not disclose assets worth ₹5.25 crore, purchased while he was in service, as required under conduct rules.

Cobrapost has urged scrutiny of the transactions and raised questions about possible undisclosed contacts and tax investigations. The supplied report does not include responses from Sangwan or the group; its claims remain allegations.
