CM Yogi Govt Launches Mega Temple Renovation Drive Across Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a large-scale temple renovation campaign under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership.

The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Panch Pran’ vision to preserve India’s cultural heritage.

The government has planned the restoration and beautification of ancient temples and ashrams across the state.

Focus on the Purvanchal region

The Department of Tourism has prepared a detailed action plan for temple development projects.

The government will focus especially on temples located in eastern Uttar Pradesh or the Purvanchal region.

The government will renovate four temples in Azamgarh, three in Ballia, and one each in Mau and Kannauj.

Temples undergoing development

Bhrigu Ashram’s Chitragupta Temple in Ballia will be beautified under the new project.

Hanuman Temple at Tendua Patti in Farsatar (Holpur) will see infrastructure upgrades.

The government will develop Udaseen Math in Basantpur village for spiritual tourism.

The Bhairav Baba site in Maharajganj (Azamgarh) will also transform.

The government will restore Durvasa Rishi Ashram in Phulpur Pawai and make it tourist-friendly.

The government will upgrade Veera Baba Brahma Sthan in Duari (Mau) with modern facilities.

Ram-Janaki Temple in Mishrapur (Azamgarh) will get structural and aesthetic enhancements.

Phoolmati Devi Temple in Sadar (Kannauj) is also included in the beautification list.

Tourist facilities will be developed near Paramhans Baba’s site in Dhannipur and Singpur Bansgaon (Azamgarh).

UP becomes a spiritual tourism hotspot

In 2024, around 65 crore tourists visited various destinations in Uttar Pradesh.

The government’s continuous efforts have boosted the state’s reputation on the global tourism map.

Home Stay Policy-2025 supports locals to convert homes into stays near religious destinations.

The scheme offers incentives and subsidies to encourage community participation in tourism.

Preserving heritage & creating jobs

The temple development project supports both heritage conservation and employment generation.

New policies will support priests and fund temple maintenance and infrastructure.

Yogi Adityanath has placed temple restoration at the core of the state’s cultural roadmap.

With better amenities, spiritual destinations will attract more tourists and benefit local businesses.

This initiative aims to promote Uttar Pradesh as a global spiritual and cultural tourism hub.
