Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, with officials describing the meeting as a courtesy call.

The meeting came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s growing role in defence manufacturing while inaugurating the fourth Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida.
Shah said BrahMos missiles manufactured in Uttar Pradesh were giving Pakistan ‘sleepless nights’ and cited AK-203 assault rifles produced in Amethi as another example of the state’s expanding defence production.
Addressing the gathering at the India Expo Centre and Mart, Shah highlighted investment in all six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. He linked the state’s manufacturing growth to the Centre’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and said cooperation between the central and state governments had helped expand India’s manufacturing capabilities.
The fourth edition of UPITS began on September 25 and will continue until September 29, bringing together manufacturers, exporters, MSMEs, startups, investors and international buyers.
The latest meeting between PM Modi and CM Adityanath comes days after BJP national president Nitin Nabin visited western Uttar Pradesh for organisational programmes ahead of the state Assembly elections.
During his visit, Nabin paid floral tributes to Kargil martyrs at a memorial park in Meerut and planted a tree in their memory.
Nabin held organisational meetings during his two-day visit.
