The unveiling of the magnificent “Statue of Oneness” in Omkareshwar, with the presence of saints from across the country, was a momentous event. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed the unveiling ceremony of the 108-feet tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya, offering his respects and prayers. This statue, constructed with various metals, stands as a symbol of unity and the profound knowledge of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, who unified India’s diverse cultural heritage.
Chief Minister Chouhan mentioned that Adi Guru Shankaracharya, although born in Kerala, attained knowledge in Omkareshwar after traveling through forests and mountains. From here, he continued his journey to Kashi. His philosophy of Advaita Vedanta has united India spiritually. Adi Shankaracharya established four mathas (monasteries) in the four corners of the country, and his teachings influenced prominent saints like Swami Vivekananda, Swami Ramtirth, Tulsidas, and Kabir.
The “Statue of Oneness” and the consecration of the Advaita Dham signify the continuation of Adi Shankaracharya’s legacy, ensuring that future generations also receive the knowledge of Advaita.
The event showcased the rich cultural traditions of Kerala, and Chief Minister Chouhan participated in Vedic rituals and observed the dance performances representing the Shaiva tradition. He received blessings from the saints and performed Sashtanga Namaskara to Adi Guru Shankaracharya.
The program also included the “Brahmotsav” on Siddhvarakut, where Shankar music, Vedic chants, and performances based on Shankaracharya’s hymns were presented. Additionally, books related to Advaita and the Ekattama Dham were released, and a film called “Journey of Oneness” was screened.
Prominent saints and mathas extended their live greetings during the “Brahmotsav,” including Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Sharada Peeth, Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth, and others.
This event, which took place from September 11 to 21, brought together saints, scholars, and devotees from across the country to celebrate the legacy of Adi Shankaracharya and the message of unity and Advaita philosophy.
