Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today paid his respects to former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
Modi, who passed away on May 13, 2024, was a key ally of Kumar and played an instrumental role in shaping the political landscape of Bihar.
At the tribute ceremony held at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reflected on his long association with Sushil Kumar Modi. Kumar shared that they had worked together for many years, and their collaboration was vital in fortifying the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s political foothold in Bihar. “I worked with Sushil Kumar Modi for many years. I have come here to pay tribute to him on the occasion of his birthday,” said the Chief Minister during the event.
The event also saw the presence of several political figures, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and other prominent leaders from the state. Sanjay Gupta, president of the Sushil Kumar Modi Memorial Research Institute, welcomed Chief Minister Kumar to the venue.
Following the tribute event in Patna, Nitish Kumar continued his Pragati Yatra, travelling to Muzaffarpur. The Chief Minister is also expected to lay the foundation for various new developmental projects and inaugurate.
The Bihar government postponed the Pragati Yatra earlier due to the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. As a mark of respect for Dr Singh, the CM has put a hold on his scheduled visits to Muzaffarpur.
The Pragati Yatra highlights the Bihar government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity across the state. With the Chief Minister personally overseeing the progress of these initiatives, the tour serves as a platform for engaging with the public and ensuring the timely completion of development projects.
