CM Devendra Fadnavis Highlights Marathi Pride & BJP’s Role In Mumbai’s Transformation

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lauded Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for his role in uniting two political factions.

Speaking at a public rally, CM Fadnavis stated, “I thank Raj Thackeray for giving me credit for bringing two brothers back together.”

He expressed his confidence in receiving the blessings of the late Balasaheb Thackeray, founder of the original Shiv Sena. “Shraddheya Balasaheb ka aashirwad mujhe milega,” he said, invoking the legacy of the iconic leader.

CM Fadnavis criticised recent political events that he described as emotional appeals lacking substance.

“I thought it would be a victory rally, but it turned out to be a programme of crying and pleading for votes,” he said, without naming any specific leader or party.

He also questioned the effectiveness of previous administrations that held power in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for over two decades.

“They controlled the BMC for 25 years and achieved nothing,” he stated.

He contrasted this with the BJP’s achievements, claiming that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, “We have changed the face of Mumbai.”

Marathi identity & Hindutva

CM Fadnavis strongly defended the BJP’s commitment to Marathi culture and identity.

“We take pride in being Marathi. We are Marathi and we are Hindutvawadi,” he declared, asserting that the party represents both regional and religious values.

He further added that the BJP believes in inclusive Hindutva. “Our Hindutva walks with everyone,” he said, highlighting the party’s vision of unity and collective progress.

CM Fadnavis also accused the previous leadership of alienating the Marathi community in Mumbai.

“They worked to drive out Marathi-speaking citizens from the city,” he claimed, positioning the BJP as a protector of Marathi interests.

In his address, CM Fadnavis positioned the BJP as a development-focused, culturally rooted party ready to lead Mumbai into the future.

Meanwhile, with civic elections approaching, his speech aimed to energise the party’s base and contrast its achievements with those of past city administrations.

The rally showcased the BJP’s dual focus on regional pride and national growth, setting the tone for the upcoming political contest in Mumbai.
