Cloudburst In Uttarakhand Claims Two Lives, Causes Widespread Disruption

A devastating cloudburst struck Ghansali in Uttarakhand’s Tehri district on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and widespread damage across the state.

Moreover, the deceased identified as Bhanu Prasad, 50, and his wife Neelam Devi, 45. Their 28-year-old son, Vipin, sustained injuries after a local eatery and a culvert near the Nautar stream were washed away due to the cloudburst in Jakhanyali, Ghansali.

Another cloudburst near the Bhim Bali stream along the Kedarnath walking path triggered a landslide, damaging approximately 25 meters of the path. However, this incident left nearly 200 pilgrims stranded in Bhim Bali. Emergency services, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), district police, and local officials, quickly responded. They evacuated the stranded pilgrims to a safer location. Fortunately, no casualties reports from the Bhim Bali incident.

The ongoing heavy rainfall caused a sudden rise in the Mandakini River’s water level. In response, authorities evacuated the Gaurikund temple and relocated devotees to safety.

Rudraprayag District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar report that the landslide at Bhim Bali impact was about 20-25 meters of the Kedarnath walking path, but assure that all 200 strand pilgrims safely reach at GMVN in Bhim Bali. He confirms that no fatalities in this incident.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been in contact with the Disaster Management Secretary to monitor the situation and coordinate relief and rescue operations across the affected areas.

Emergency services, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SDRF, and local hospitals, remain on high alert as the state continues to deal with the aftermath of the severe weather.
