Civil Engineer Fakes Being OSD Of Amit Shah To Get Job, Gets Arrested

According to police, an unemployed civil engineer tried to get himself hired as a senior official for the Ganga Motorway project by pretending to be an OSD to the Union Minister of Home Affairs before being apprehended, they said on Sunday.

They stated that 48-year-old Robin Upadhyay, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, claimed to have worked for numerous global corporations for more than 25 years.

Police claimed that Upadhyay was using the deception as a means of gaining access to the position of Vice President and Project Coordinator for the motorway project.

When one Akshat Sharmaa reported receiving an email on his official id from a “fake” email address from someone posing as Rajeev Kumar, an Officer-on-Special-Duty to the Union Home Minister, the problem was brought to light.

Sharma said in his complaint that Robin Upadhyay’s appointment as Senior Associate Vice President-cum-project coordinator for the Ganga Motorway Project had been requested after he received a message from someone claiming to have received instructions to that effect.

The email address rajeev.osd.mha@gmail.com was fraudulent and made with the intention of misleading individuals, according to the police investigation.

“Our team narrowed down the primary suspect Robin Upadhyay based on technical surveillance, and based on technical investigation, it was discovered that the email was created six to seven days ago and was registered in Upadhyay’s name.

According to initial questioning, the suspect was later located and held from his house in Meerut on Saturday evening before being arrested in connection with the crime, according to Hemant Tiwari, additional deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi).

As a civil engineer with extensive expertise in civil construction projects, Upadhyay admitted during questioning that he had considered obtaining a false reference to obtain a job, according to Tiwari.

He therefore looked up current highway projects and their status. Then he impersonated Rajeev Kumar, OSD in an email to the Union Minister of Home Affairs.

The CV he included demonstrated his qualifications for the position, according to Tiwari.
