Megastar Chiranjeevi and his son, actor Ram Charan, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday to raise concerns over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfake technology against artists.
The meeting followed Chiranjeevi’s recent post on X, in which he expressed concern over degrading and morphed videos targeting members of the film industry.

Sources close to the actors said Chiranjeevi had sought the appointment to explain how AI-generated content and deepfakes threatened artists’ rights, dignity and creative work. He also urged the Centre to introduce stronger safeguards and take strict action against those misusing the technology.
Shah assured the actors that the government would urgently examine the issue and consider stronger safeguards and penalties.
He asked Chiranjeevi to submit a written representation and assigned Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to coordinate the matter.
Chiranjeevi welcomed Shah’s assurance, calling it an encouraging step for the film fraternity. He hoped the government would introduce meaningful protections for artists.
Ram Charan also shared details of the meeting on Instagram, welcoming Shah’s response to concerns over the impact of AI and deepfakes on artists and the film industry.
He thanked the Home Minister for his time and support, adding that the assurance of urgent consideration and stronger safeguards was encouraging.
