Chandrababu Receives A Jolt From Supreme Court

Supreme Court deferred the hearing of plea filed by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu against an FIR filed against him by the Andhra Pradesh government in connection with Skill Development Corporation scam case. The hearing will now take place on October 9.

A bench of justices consisting of  Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi have asked Mukul Rohatgi to place every records that were placed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. It may be recalled that senior advocate Rohatgi is representing  the Andhra Pradesh government.

Rohatgi has called for quashing of the plea as Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act can’t be applied since the provision came into force from July 2018 whereas the investigation started by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from 2017.

Senior advocates Harish Salve, Abhisekh Manu Singhvi and Siddharth Luthra are fighting the case on behalf of the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. They alleged that Naidu is been illegally harassed as everything he did was according to the rules framed by him and his government while in power.
