A letter petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of a class IX student from St. Mary’s Convent Girls Inter College. The petition, submitted by Advocate Gaurav Dwivedi, calls for the Chief Justice to take suo motu cognizance of the matter.
The incident occurred on October 22 when the 16-year-old student, a resident of Pritam Nagar, was found hanging at her home while her parents were away. A suicide note was discovered, in which the student reportedly blamed the college management for her death and requested the closure of the school.

The letter petition demands a thorough investigation by the CBI and calls for immediate action against those responsible for the student’s demise. Additionally, it requests the suspension of the school’s principal pending the investigation.
Moreover, the petition urges the District Magistrate (DM) to submit a personal affidavit regarding the monitoring of safety measures to protect minors from harassment by private institutions. The letter also calls for action against St. Mary’s Convent Inter College.
In a further bid to improve student welfare, the petition advocates for the issuance of a mandatory circular requiring all schools and colleges—both government and private—to appoint legal and psychological counselors.
The case has garnered significant attention, highlighting ongoing concerns about student safety and mental health in educational institutions.
