CBI has busted huge human trafficking networks operating across the country, which target gullible youth by promising them lucrative jobs abroad. Such smugglers are working as an organized network and were luring Indian citizens for high paying jobs in Russia through social media channels like YouTube etc. and their local contacts/agents. Subsequently, the smuggled Indian nationals were trained in combat roles and deployed against their will to forward bases in Russia (Russia-Ukraine war zone), putting their lives in grave danger. It was learned that some of the victims were also seriously injured in the war zone.
In this context, CBI registered a case of human trafficking on 06.03.2024 against private visa consultancy firms and agents and others because such firms, agents etc. are involved in migration of Indian citizens to Russia in the guise of better employment and high paying jobs. Have been found involved in smuggling. The human trafficking network of these agents is spread in many states across the country.
CBI conducted a simultaneous search operation at around 13 locations in several cities like Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Ambala, Chandigarh, Madurai and Chennai till late last night.
