The Lok Sabha will receive a report from the Ethics Committee on Friday, which suggested TMC MP Mahua Moitra be expelled in the “cash-for-query” case.
The report was not tabled despite being previously scheduled for the lower house’s December 4 agenda. The revised list of business for Friday issued by the Lok Sabha secretariat has listed the Ethics Committee report as agenda item number 7.
Before a decision is made regarding Moitra, several opposition members have urged that the recommendations be discussed.
BSP MP Danish Ali told reporters on Thursday, “If the report is tabled, we would insist on a full-fledged discussion as the draft was adopted in two-and-a-half minutes.”

The committee led by Vinod Kumar Sonkar approved the report, which suggested Moitra be removed from the Lok Sabha due to the “cash-for-query” accusation, at a meeting on November 9. Six panelists voted in favour of the report, including Congress MP Preneet Kaur, who had previously faced a party suspension. Dissent notes were submitted by four opposition party panel members.

The opposition members referred to the report as a “fixed match” and said that there was not a single “shred of evidence” to back up the complaint that BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey had filed.
Only if the House votes to approve the panel’s recommendation can Moitra be removed.
