Canada Received ‘Five Eyes’ Intel Against India, Says US Convey: Report

According to a media report on Saturday, a top American diplomat confirmed that “shared intelligence among Five Eyes partners” was what led to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s offensive claim about Indian agents’ involvement in the killing of a Khalistani terrorist in Canada.

According to David Cohen, the US ambassador to Canada, there was “shared intelligence among Five Eyes partners” that informed Trudeau’s public allegation of a “potential” connection between the government of India and the murder of a Canadian citizen. CTV News Channel is Canada’s 24-hour all-news network.

An intelligence coalition known as the “Five Eyes” is made up of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It is based on both signal intelligence (SIGINT) and surveillance.

On September 18, Justin Trudeau made a shocking claim about the “potential” involvement of Indian operatives in the June 18 murder of Canadian citizen and Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia.

Trudeau’s accusations have been denied by India as “absurd” and “motivated.” In a tit-for-tat response to Ottawa’s expulsion of an Indian official over the matter, it too expelled a senior Canadian diplomat.

India classified Nijjar, 45, as a terrorist in 2020.

The CTV report is based on an exclusive interview that will appear on Sunday’s episode of “Question Period with Vassy Kapelos” on CTV.

According to Cohen, who was described by CTV as having verified as much, “There was shared intelligence among Five Eyes partners that helped lead Canada to make the statements that the Prime Minister made.” There have been swirling questions about what intelligence is at the center of this story, who was aware of it, and when, according to the CTV report. As diplomatic tensions have increased in the days since, “from Canada reviewing its staffing in India to India suspending visa services for Canadians,” the report said.
