BRICS Summit 2026: New Delhi Declaration Reflects Growing Collective Strength, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the New Delhi Declaration has demonstrated the growing confidence and collective strength of an expanding BRICS.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “The New Delhi Declaration, adopted unanimously at the 2026 BRICS Delhi Summit, reflects the confidence of a BRICS that is wider in reach and stronger in purpose.”

“With a focus on innovation, sustainability, people-to-people ties and more, the endeavour is to make cooperation more practical, development-oriented and responsive to the aspirations of the BRICS nations. I thank all the fellow BRICS nations and their leaders for its adoption,” the post further read.

PM Modi said the declaration establishes an ambitious agenda for cooperation in artificial intelligence, Digital Public Infrastructure, quantum technologies, startups, MSMEs, science and research. He said member countries would work to reinforce the New Development Bank and collaborate on food and health security, energy, resilient supply chains and sustainable infrastructure.

The Prime Minister said the declaration highlights the need to reshape international institutions in line with changing global realities.

Earlier, BRICS leaders gathered at Bharat Mandapam for discussions on ‘Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism’.

India is hosting the two-day summit, which brings together leaders from BRICS member and partner countries as well as outreach invitees.

PM Modi announced the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Declaration 2026 and unveiled two commemorative postage stamps marking 20 years of BRICS.

During his concluding remarks, PM Modi said, “The New Delhi Declaration adopted today gives clear direction to our shared resolve. Now it is our responsibility to convert these resolutions into concrete results.”

The Prime Minister said leaders exchanged views on major regional and international developments and identified priorities for advancing BRICS cooperation.
