‘Brand India’: Reimagining Bharat’s Global Identity In A Changing World

In an era where nations are redefining their global identities amid rapid geopolitical shifts, Brand India: Story of Bharat in a Changing World emerges as a timely and invigorating manifesto.

Co-authored by Prof Himanshu Rai, Director of IIM Indore, and Prof  Varsha Jain of MICA, the book brings together leadership, ethics and marketing scholarship to examine India’s evolving place in the world.

At its core, Brand India transcends conventional economic analysis to present India as a timeless civilisation reclaiming its role as Vishwaguru.

The authors align this vision with Bharat@2047 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of Viksit Bharat, weaving together ancient philosophies such as Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam with modern achievements in technology, defence and culture.

From the indigenous strength symbolised by the BrahMos missile to India’s soft power through yoga and Bollywood, the book illustrates how tradition fuels contemporary aspiration.

The narrative spans economy, sustainability, spirituality and social empowerment, urging citizens to see themselves as active contributors and brand ambassadors of the nation.

Accessible Storytelling with Honest Reflection

Written in crisp, jargon-free prose, the book avoids academic heaviness and adopts a conversational tone. Rai and Jain balance India’s achievements, digital transformation, space missions and innovation, with candid discussions on inequality and climate challenges.

Reviewers note its balanced perspective, making it accessible to both newcomers and informed readers.

Rai’s focus on ethical leadership and innovation shines through, particularly in areas such as AI ethics and renewable energy.

Jain adds a strategic marketing lens, positioning Brand India as a deliberate global branding exercise, comparable to how other nations shaped their international image through culture and technology.

The book’s strongest element is its call to action, challenging readers to actively shape India’s global narrative.

While its concise length limits deeper policy exploration, Brand India succeeds as a motivational and forward-looking work that inspires pride, responsibility and hope.
