Bomb Threats In Delhi Trigger Widespread Panic; Security On High Alert

A series of bomb threat emails has plunged Delhi into a state of alarm over recent months, targeting key institutions including courts, educational establishments, hospitals, and government offices.

The repeated threats have led to multiple evacuations and kept security forces on heightened alert.

The latest scare unfolded on Friday at the Delhi High Court, when an email warned of explosives planted in the complex, including a bomb allegedly placed inside a judge’s chamber.

The message also contained references to Pakistan’s ISI and threats of acid attacks on political leaders.

Following the threat, Delhi Police evacuated the High Court and deployed bomb detection squads, while cybercrime experts launched efforts to trace the email’s origin.

This latest alert follows similar bomb scare emails received at the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) just days earlier on September 9.

Despite thorough searches, no explosives have been found, and authorities have so far deemed these alerts hoaxes.

However, the repeated nature of the threats has generated anxiety among residents and officials alike.

Schools & Colleges Targeted in Ongoing Threats

August witnessed an alarming number of bomb threat emails aimed at nearly two dozen colleges, including the well-known Jesus and Mary College, and over 100 schools across the city.

Threat emails forced the evacuation of six schools in Dwarka and Prasad Nagar on August 21, with similar evacuations at Delhi Public School, Dwarka, in mid-August and July.

Parents, students, and educators have expressed concern over the frequency of these messages, which disrupt daily routines and cause widespread unease.

Officials believe perpetrators may be using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to conceal their identities, complicating the probe. Delhi Police have coordinated with the Special Cell, cybercrime units, and Disaster Management Authority to ensure swift responses.

While every alert so far has been a false alarm, security agencies remain vigilant, determined to identify and apprehend those responsible for sowing panic in the capital.
