Security forces launched a massive operation in Jaisalmer on Friday after a bomb-like object appeared in the Jogi Colony of Kishanghat around 10 AM.
Army personnel immediately evacuated the area and safely defused the object, averting what could have been a major disaster.
Police enforced a city-wide blockade in Jaisalmer, deploying heavily armed personnel to monitor all entry and exit points.
Authorities permitted movement only after verifying documents thoroughly, while teams kept a close watch on all suspicious activity.
As Rajasthan remained on high alert, six districts Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Pali experienced coordinated blackouts on Thursday night.
Authorities grounded all routine flights in these areas, shutting down airports in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Kishangarh. The airspace remained deserted.

Railway operations also faced major disruptions. In Jaisalmer, train number 12468 (Jaipur-Jaisalmer) halted at Bikaner on May 8, while train number 12467 (Jaisalmer-Jaipur), scheduled for May 9, now originates from Bikaner.
In Barmer, authorities cancelled four trains 14895, 14896, 04880, and 54881 for May 9.
The state-wide alert follows two failed attack attempts by Pakistan.
On the night of May 7–8, Indian airbases at Uttarlai, Nal, and Phalodi came under missile attack, which India’s S-400 air defence system intercepted mid-air.
Later, on May 8 at 9 PM, swarm drones targeted military bases in Jaisalmer and Pokaran, but security forces neutralised them before they could cause harm.
In response, the Rajasthan government closed all schools and colleges in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Sri Ganganagar until further notice.
Officials also shut coaching institutes in Sri Ganganagar. Authorities banned fireworks in Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar, while Kota and Bikaner prohibited drone flights until July 7.
To strengthen disaster management efforts, the government deployed nine Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers to key border areas to assist in law enforcement and emergency response.
