Punjab Police on Saturday successfully brought Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Parminder Singh, also known as Pindi, back to India from Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced that the Punjab Police conducted the operation in close coordination with the Central agencies.
According to Yadav, Pindi is a trusted aide of foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, and Happy Passia. He faces multiple serious offences, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults and extortion activities in the Batala–Gurdaspur belt.
Following a Red Corner Notice issued at the request of Batala Police, a four-member team headed by a senior officer travelled to the UAE on 24 September.
Working in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities, they completed all legal processes and secured his extradition to India, the DGP said.
“This successful extradition underscores Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and organised crime as well as its advanced investigative capabilities and global reach,” he further added.
DGP Yadav expressed gratitude to Central agencies, the Ministry of External Affairs and the UAE government for their crucial assistance in the joint effort to ensure justice and bolster national security.
Earlier this year, the wanted gangster Happy Passia, accused of planning 16 terror attacks in Punjab, arrested in April and placed in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also sought him and announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for his role in grenade attacks on a residence in Chandigarh and several police stations across Punjab.
Passia is closely linked to Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, and has been involved in multiple terror operations in Punjab alongside Pakistan’s ISI, Rinda, and the banned Babbar Khalsa International. The FBI and ICE jointly apprehended him.
