BJP Targets Congress, Samajwadi Party Over Alleged Pakistan Narrative In Delhi Encroachment Row

Amid intensifying political exchanges, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) of aligning with Pakistan’s narrative on the demolition of illegal encroachments near the Syed Faiz Elahi Mosque in Delhi.

Following the Delhi High Court’s directive to remove unauthorised structures, the issue has emerged as a major flashpoint in national politics.

Leading the charge, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the opposition parties of prioritising vote-bank considerations over India’s judicial process and national interest.

Through a strongly worded social media post, he alleged that both the Congress and SP were repeating arguments similar to those made by Pakistan.

To reinforce his claim, Bhandari shared a video featuring Tahir Andrabi, Pakistan’s ambassador and spokesperson for its foreign affairs, commenting on the situation in Delhi. According to the BJP, the overlap between Pakistan’s remarks and the opposition’s statements is deeply concerning.

At the centre of the controversy lies the Delhi High Court’s order directing authorities to clear illegal constructions around the Syed Faiz Elahi Mosque. The BJP has consistently defended the demolition drive, stating that authorities carried it out strictly in compliance with judicial instructions.

In contrast, Congress and Samajwadi Party leaders have questioned the decision, citing concerns over community sentiments and the manner in which the order was executed. As a result, protests and political reactions have emerged, further intensifying the charged atmosphere.

Pakistan’s Reaction Fuels BJP Allegations

Complicating matters further, Pakistan’s foreign ministry issued remarks criticising the demolition, a move the BJP says exposed the opposition’s stance. From the BJP’s perspective, this development proves that the Congress and SP are ‘speaking in the same voice’ as a hostile neighbouring country.

Responding on his personal X handle, Bhandari stated, “Congress and SP do not stand with India’s law — they keep echoing Pakistan for vote bank politics.” He argued that such behaviour weakens democratic institutions and emboldens forces hostile to India.

Broadening his attack, Bhandari linked the issue to what he described as a recurring pattern of appeasement politics by opposition parties. According to him, these parties routinely oppose security measures, question enforcement actions against illegal activities, and challenge steps taken to uphold the law.

Looking ahead, the BJP’s remarks are expected to sharpen political divisions as electoral battles approach. By taking a hard line, the ruling party aims to project itself as a guardian of national sovereignty, judicial authority, and the rule of law, while depicting the opposition as driven by narrow political interests.

Concluding his remarks, Bhandari asserted that citizens would recognise what he termed a ‘dangerous collusion’ between opposition narratives and Pakistan’s propaganda.

Stressing the importance of respecting court orders, he warned against politicising judicial decisions for electoral gains, firmly placing the controversy within the larger debate of nationalism versus appeasement.
