Amit Shah Urges Decisive Action To Eradicate Terror Networks In Jammu And Kashmir

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday underscored the need for the complete dismantling of terrorism and its support systems in Jammu and Kashmir, while commending security forces for sustained gains against militant networks.

Chairing a comprehensive security review meeting in New Delhi, Shah assessed counter-terrorism strategies and operational preparedness in the Union Territory.

The meeting focused on strengthening efforts to neutralise militants, particularly in higher-altitude areas, and ensuring zero infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.

Sharing details on social media, Shah said he had reviewed the situation alongside Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

He lauded security agencies for weakening the terror ecosystem in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of lasting peace in the region.

Mission-Mode Operations to Continue

The Home Minister reiterated that counter-terror operations aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure and choking financial lifelines would continue in ‘mission mode’.

Officials said Shah placed special emphasis on destroying the broader support network of terrorism, including overground workers, sympathisers and drug-smuggling channels that fund militant activities.

This coordinated approach, he noted, requires seamless collaboration among all agencies involved in counter-terror duties.

Shah praised the synergy between the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army and the Central Armed Police Forces, calling it crucial for maintaining operational momentum.

Senior officials present at the meeting included the Union Home Secretary, the Intelligence Bureau Director, heads of central armed forces, and top administrative and police officers from Jammu and Kashmir.

Recent joint operations against terrorists of Pakistani origin, allegedly backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, were also reviewed.

According to official sources, the Home Minister acknowledged visible improvements on the ground due to enhanced security management.

He expressed optimism that 2026 could mark a decisive turning point, with terrorism brought to an end in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah said the people of the region aspire to live in peace and dignity, with better educational and professional opportunities for future generations—an objective the government remains committed to securing.
