BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Condemns Ayodhya Gang Rape Incident, Criticizes Response

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has voiced strong condemnation regarding the recent gang rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya, criticizing both the incident and the response from certain local leaders.

“What happened to this young girl is utterly disgraceful,” Swaraj said, expressing her shock over the reported lack of awareness from the MP representing Ayodhya. She also criticized statements made by Samajwadi Party leaders, describing them as “weird.”

Swaraj commended Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the swift action taken by the local administration. She called on the Samajwadi Party to address the issue within their ranks, particularly in relation to their leaders involved in the case.

In response to the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with the victim’s mother on Friday, promising stringent measures against the perpetrators and asserting that “the culprits will not be spared at any cost.”

Following this, two police officials were suspended for failing to file the victim’s complaint: Ratna Sharma, the in-charge of Purakalandar police station, and Akhilesh Gupta, the outpost in-charge of Bhadasa.

About The Case

The horrific case, which came to light after the girl complained of stomach pain, revealed that she was sexually assaulted by Samajwadi Party leader Moid Khan and his servant Raju, who had offered her a job at their bakery. The girl was later found to be pregnant, and a video of the assault was reportedly recorded.

Moid Khan, who is reportedly close to Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad, has faced legal and administrative repercussions. On Saturday, officials from the Food and Safety Department raided Khan’s bakery, collecting food samples for investigation and demolishing the establishment with a bulldozer.

In a separate engagement, Bansuri Swaraj participated in a cleanliness drive at the Rajiv Gandhi Camp slum in Narayan on Sunday. During the campaign, she emphasized the significance of cleanliness initiatives started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, highlighting ongoing efforts to maintain sanitation in the community.
