Ganpat Gaikwad, detained after the incident, asserted in a statement to a news channel that he fired in self-defense, claiming that Mahesh’s supporters had misbehaved with his son. The dispute between Shiv Sena’s Mahesh Gaikwad and BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad led them to the police station to file a complaint.
