BJP Intensifies Assam Poll Push As Amit Shah Leads Guwahati Roadshow

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a high-profile roadshow in Guwahati on Saturday, giving fresh momentum to the Bharatiya Janata Party campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The procession commenced at Arya Vidyapeeth Playground and covered several major stretches of the city.

Supporters and party workers gathered in large numbers along the route, enthusiastically welcoming the Home Minister.

HM Shah acknowledged the crowd as the event generated strong political energy in the region.

After the public outreach, HM Shah is expected to hold discussions with key BJP functionaries to evaluate the campaign’s progress and sharpen strategies in the run-up to polling.

Extending his visit, HM Shah will address a rally on Sunday at the Dhekiajuli Tea Estate ground in Sonitpur district. He will be campaigning in support of Minister Ashok Singhal.

Shah will later proceed to Tihu in Nalbari district. There, he will campaign for senior Minister Chandramohan Patowary at a gathering in Chamata.

The Home Minister is scheduled to return to Assam on April 2.

The visit aims to reinforce the party’s efforts, particularly in the Barak Valley region.

During this leg, he will campaign for Minister Krishnendu Paul in Sribhumi and BJP nominee Rajdeep Roy in Silchar.

Voting for the 126-seat Assam Legislative Assembly will take place in a single phase on April 9, while results will be declared on May 4.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also campaign in the state on April 1. He is slated to address public meetings in Bihpuria (Lakhimpur district) and Gohpur, both strategically important constituencies aimed at strengthening voter support in Upper Assam.
