Billionaire Harpal Randhawa And 22-Year-Old Son Killed In Zimbabwe Plane Crash

Indian billionaire and mining tycoon Harpal Randhawa, along with his 22-year-old son Amer, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in Zimbabwe on September 29, according to a report from news agency. The incident occurred when their private Cessna 206 aircraft, owned by RioZim, crashed near a diamond mine in southwestern Zimbabwe due to a technical fault.

Harpal Randhawa was known as the owner of RioZim, a diversified mining company involved in gold and coal production, as well as nickel and copper refining. Additionally, he had founded the $4-billion private equity firm GEM Holdings.

The father and son were en route from Harare to the Murowa diamond mine when the accident took place. The crash occurred near the Murowa Diamonds mine, which is partly owned by RioZim, and sadly resulted in the loss of all passengers and crew on board.

Filmmaker Hopewell Chinono, a close friend of Mr. Randhawa, expressed his condolences and remembered him as a generous and humble individual who provided valuable life advice. He also mentioned that Mr. Randhawa’s legacy would endure through his contributions to Zimbabwe.

As the local community and law enforcement agencies collaborate to manage the aftermath of the plane crash, a memorial service is being organized to remember the lives of the father and son.
