Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav Criticizes Nitish Kumar Government Over Bridge Collapses

Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a fierce critique of the Nitish Kumar government on Saturday, condemning the frequent bridge collapses.

In a scathing post on X, Tejashwi mocked both the state and Central governments.

He stated, “Congratulations! Due to the double power of the double-engine government in Bihar, only 5 bridges have collapsed in just 9 days.”

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader sarcastically noted, “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the double-engine NDA government comprising 6 parties, has sent bright wishes of Mangalraj to the people of the state on the collapse of the 5 bridges in 9 days.”

Tejashwi Yadav further criticized the authorities, pointing out that bridge collapses are causing the loss of thousands of crores of public money. He criticized the self-proclaimed honest officials for dismissing these incidents as courtesy rather than acknowledging them as corruption.

A girder of an under-construction road bridge collapsed in the Madhubani district on Friday.

The bridge over the Bhutahi Balan River at Lalwarhi village under the Madhepur block had its girder installation completed just two days earlier.

In the past 11 days, 5 bridges have collapsed across various districts, including Araria, Siwan, East Champaran, Kishanganj, and Madhubani.

The series of collapses began on 18 June when a bridge worth Rs 12 crore over the Bakra River in the Sikti block of Araria district gave way.

This was followed by the collapse of a bridge on the canal connecting Daraunda and Maharajganj blocks in Siwan on 22 June.

On 23 June, a bridge in the Ghodasahan block of East Champaran fell, and on 27 June, a 70-meter-long bridge collapsed in Kishanganj.
