On Sunday, the NDA brought clarity to Bihar’s electoral landscape, revealing how partners will share the 243 Assembly seats.
The BJP and JD(U) will lead the front with 101 seats apiece, as smaller allies, the LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM, and RLM, take charge of the remaining 41.
Under the new seat-sharing plan, Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) will contest 29 seats, while Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM will fight six each.
Sources revealed that the LJP intends to field candidates from Gaya, Fatuha and Bakhtiyarpur, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s birthplace, marking a calculated bid to strengthen its political footprint.
A BJP core committee meeting is currently in progress to finalise the list of candidates for the two-phase elections.
The NDA will formally announce its complete seat-sharing and candidate details once the meeting concludes.
According to senior alliance insiders, the LJP’s 29-seat list includes Bakhri, Sahibpur Kamal, Tarapur, Rosra, Raja Pakar, Lalganj, Hayaghat, Gaighat, Ekma, Marhaura, Agiaon, Obra, Arwal, Hisua and Danapur.
It also covers Brahmpur, Rajgir, Kadwa, Sonbarsa, Balrampur, Govindpur, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Makhdoom, Kasba, Sugauli and Morwa.
These constituencies reflect the party’s strategic focus for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
The Election Commission allotted Tekari, Kutumba, Atri, Imamganj, Sikandra and Barachatti to the Hindustani Awam Morcha.
Meanwhile, RLM will contest from Sasaram, Dinara, Ujiarpur, Mahua, Bajpatti and Madhubani.
Political observers see the move as a tactical plan to enhance the NDA’s influence in competitive constituencies.
The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two stages. With 121 seats going to the polls on November 6 and the remaining 122 on November 11.
Officials will count votes on November 14.
