Bihar NDA Cabinet Expansion: Nishant Kumar Makes Political Debut As Minister

A major political development unfolded in Bihar on Thursday as the NDA government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary carried out a grand cabinet expansion at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

A total of 32 ministers took the oath of office and secrecy during the ceremony, with 19 existing ministers retaining their positions and 13 new faces joining the government.

Senior NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, attended the event.

The cabinet expansion’s biggest talking point was the formal political debut of Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

An engineer by profession, Nishant Kumar took oath as a minister for the first time and received the crucial Health Ministry portfolio.

Political observers believe Nishant could now play a key role in carrying forward his father’s political legacy, especially amid speculation about Nitish Kumar’s possible move to the Rajya Sabha.

The cabinet reshuffle reflected an attempt to balance experienced leaders with emerging faces.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha received charge of the Agriculture Ministry.

Other prominent BJP leaders inducted into the cabinet included Ramakripal Yadav, Nitin Mishra and Shreyasi Singh.

From the JD(U), senior leaders Ashok Choudhary, Lesi Singh and Shravan Kumar also joined the new cabinet.

The NDA leadership also accommodated alliance partners in the cabinet expansion. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) secured two ministerial berths, while Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha received one berth each.

Leaders such as Santosh Kumar Suman and Deepak Prakash were also inducted, further strengthening the NDA alliance ahead of future political challenges.
