Bihar Elections 2025: First Two Hours Record 13.13% Voter Turnout

The Election Commission reported a 13.3% voter turnout by 9 AM across 121 constituencies in 18 districts of Bihar.

Saharsa recorded the highest polling with 15.27 per cent, followed by Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali and Khagaria, recording between 14-15%.

Voters turned out actively as Madhepura led with 13.74%, followed by Gopalganj, Siwan, and others, recording around 12–14% polling.

Polling for the first phase of the Bihar election began on Thursday at 7 AM and will conclude at 6 PM.

The Election Commission confirmed that 3.75 crore voters—1.98 crore men, 1.76 crore women, and 758 third-gender voters will vote.

A total of 1,314 candidates, including 1,192 men and 122 women, contest fiercely to secure victory in Bihar’s first-phase polls. The total number of polling stations is 45,341, including 36,733 in the rural areas and 8,608 in the urban areas.

The ECI has declared 320 model stations, 926 women-managed, and 107 persons with disabilities-managed in these districts.

Additionally, all 45,341 polling stations will have live webcasting facilities.

As polling will continue till 6 PM in the general booths, voting will conclude at 5 PM in six Assembly constituencies.

A mock poll was conducted between 5 AM and 7 AM in the presence of booth-level agents, before polling opened to the public.

Police and paramilitary forces deployed across 18 districts, patrolling sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling booths to ensure secure voting.

Over 15 battalions of forces have been deployed across the state.

The Patna district administration informed that security personnel have been stationed at every booth to prevent any disturbance.
