Big Relief To Trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar, Delhi HC Stays Arrest

Providing a big relief to Pooja Khedkar, Delhi High Court stayed the arrest of trainee IAS till August 21. In addition, court has sought reply from Delhi Police and UPSC on Pooja Khedkar’s anticipatory bail petition. The court will hear the case next on August 21.

The HC maintained that trial court did not consider the bail aspect while taking the allegations against Khedkar.

The police have filed an FIR against Pooja Khedkar for allegedly using fake certificates to appear in the civil services examination. This legal action follows the recent developments in her ongoing case.

In the latest hearing, the Delhi High Court disposed of a petition filed by Khedkar. The court directed her to approach the appropriate forum for further action. During the proceedings, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) informed the court that it would notify Khedkar about the permanent cancellation of her candidature within two days.

Khedkar’s lawyer specifically requested two actions. First, she sought an official order to cancel her candidature. Second, she demanded the withdrawal of a press release related to the cancellation. Advocate Naresh Kaushik, representing UPSC, explained that they released a press issue because Khedkar’s address was unknown

Khedkar had previously challenged UPSC’s decision to cancel her candidature in the High Court. In her petition, she included the institutions that had issued notices against her. Ultimately, Khedkar was found guilty of violating UPSC’s rules, which led to the cancellation of her selection.

Additionally, the legal troubles for Khedkar have extended to her family. Her mother has been arrested in a separate case involving threats made to a farmer. Earlier, Pooja Khedkar’s anticipatory bail request was denied by the Patiala House Court. Consequently, the court instructed UPSC to broaden the scope of its investigation into the matter.
