Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk recently visited Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh 2025, where he took part in various spiritual ceremonies.
During his visit to Tirtharaj Prayag, the King worshipped Shri Akshayvat Ji and Mother Ganga.
A significant moment in his spiritual journey, he also took a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam.
Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the two leaders offered prayers at the Lete Hanuman Mandir and explored the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre.
Taking to X, UP CM Yogi Adityanath posted, “Today at Tirtharaj Prayag, His Majesty the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk Ji had darshan and worship of Shri Akshayvat Ji.”
“Today at Tirtharaj Prayag, His Majesty the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk Ji worshipped Mother Ganga, the giver of life and giver of salvation,” UP CM further noted.
Another post from CM Adityanath highlighted, “His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk of Bhutan took a holy bath at the holy Triveni Sangam today at Mahakumbh-2025, Prayagraj.”
Earlier, UP CM Yogi Adityanath personally welcomed the King at Lucknow Airport, presenting him with a bouquet of flowers. The two then boarded a plane together to travel to Prayagraj.
King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk arrived in Lucknow on Monday, where CM Yogi Adityanath extended a warm welcome.
Traditional music and dance performances marked his arrival.
The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on 13 January, will continue until 26 February.
The event has already drawn millions of devotees and is expected to break previous records in attendance.
Prominent figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath with his Cabinet, have also taken a holy dip at Triveni Sangam.
Other notable personalities such as producer Vinod Bhanushali and Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin, alongside actress Dakota Johnson, also participated in the sacred ritual.
The Uttar Pradesh government showered flower petals on saints and seers gathered for the ‘Amrit Snan’ at the Triveni Sangam on Basant Panchami.
Officials reported that more than 12.5 million devotees had taken a holy dip during the third and final Shahi Snan of Maha Kumbh by noon on Monday.
