Bhutan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Lyonpo DN Dhungyel, landed in New Delhi on Wednesday to take part in the Raisina Dialogue, India’s leading platform on global affairs.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, welcomed the visiting dignitary and underlined that the trip would further energise bilateral cooperation.
Taking to X, the MEA posted, “Warm welcome to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan, Lyonpo D. N. Dhungyel @FMBhutan as he arrives to attend the 11th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.”
“India–Bhutan partnership is built on deep mutual trust and goodwill. The visit will impart further momentum to India–Bhutan ties,” the post further read.
The Raisina Dialogue, scheduled from 5 to 7 March, serves as India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics. Since its inception in 2016, organisers have convened it annually in the national capital.
The Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs jointly organise the forum, and they bring together heads of state, ministers, academics, industry leaders and journalists to deliberate on critical international developments.
In February, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the India-AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
The leaders assessed cooperation across priority sectors, including hydropower, connectivity, development partnership projects and people-to-people exchanges.
The MEA stated that both sides supported leveraging Artificial Intelligence to promote inclusive and human-centric advancement. They also agreed to expand collaboration in digital innovation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening the India–Bhutan partnership founded on trust and respect.
India and Bhutan continue to sustain regular exchanges at the highest levels while broadening collaboration in energy, infrastructure and cultural engagement.
During his November visit to Thimphu, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s Neighbourhood First Policy.
He paid respects at Tashichhodzong and joined the Global Peace Prayer Festival, reflecting the strong cultural and spiritual bonds that connect the two countries.
