‘Bhole Baba’ Evades Capture After Hathras Stampede Kills 121

In a tragic incident that has shaken Uttar Pradesh, a massive stampede erupted during a religious discourse organized by Sakar Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba in Hathras, resulting in the deaths of 121 individuals.

The spiritual leader, formerly known as Saurabh Kumar, is currently on the run, evading authorities despite intensive search operations conducted by the police at Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri district.

Surprisingly, the FIR filed in connection with the stampede does not name Bhole Baba himself as an accused.

Instead, authorities have named his manager and event organizer, Dev Prakash Madhukar, also known as ‘Mukhya Sewadar’, along with other organizers.

Bhole Baba’s journey into spiritual leadership began after a distinguished career in the intelligence department of the Uttar Pradesh Police, spanning 17 years.

He made a dramatic shift to become a preacher, often conducting satsang programs clad in a distinctive white suit and tie alongside his wife.

Known as ‘Sakar Vishwa Hari Baba of Patiali’, his influence extends beyond Uttar Pradesh into Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, despite maintaining a deliberate distance from mainstream and social media.

His followers, dubbed ‘Baba’s army’, attest to his charismatic appeal and spiritual teachings, which reportedly began after a divine vision following his retirement from service.

He regularly holds satsangs, including recent events in Mainpuri district and the ill-fated gathering in Hathras.

Bhole Baba’s actions have not been without controversy, notably during the Covid-19 pandemic when an authorized satsang in Farrukhabad district swelled far beyond permitted limits, causing significant logistical challenges for local authorities.
