CMD Upendrra Rai, the Chief Managing Director of Bharat Express News Network, spoke at the ‘Unnati Ki Oar’ Conclave held in Uttarakhand today, shedding light on the unique aspects and challenges facing the state.
CMD Upendrra Rai began by acknowledging the impact of the Prime Minister’s emphasis on the concept of a double-engine government, emphasizing the need for performance amidst challenges. Bharat Express CMD commended the seriousness with which Uttarakhand ministers articulated their perspectives, underlining the state’s significance due to its extensive borders with China and Nepal, which pose significant concerns.
Upendrra Rai highlighted Uttarakhand’s distinct characteristics and issues, noting its substantial transient population, rivaling that of Britain. He praised the state’s natural beauty, ranking second only to Jammu and Kashmir, and lauded the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s efforts in recognizing and harnessing its potential. However, he lamented the adverse effects of climate change on Uttarakhand, citing escalating landslides, ground fractures, and devastating property damage and casualties, particularly since June 13.
Drawing a comparison between India’s and China’s economies, Rai emphasized the disparities while noting China’s past developmental trajectory from relative backwardness. He underscored Uttarakhand’s unique contribution to India’s armed forces, with one in five residents associated with the military, and celebrated the state’s achievements across various domains.
Praising Prime Minister Modi’s leadership prowess, Upendrra Rai credited him as a formidable performer, suggesting that those unable to meet his standards would struggle to function effectively. He also identified tourism as Uttarakhand’s prime asset, discussing its untapped potential to propel societal and national development.
CMD Upendrra Rai’s address encapsulated Uttarakhand’s strengths, challenges, and the role of effective leadership in navigating them towards progress and prosperity.
