Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai Pays Tributes To Eminent Journalist Ajit Rai In New Delhi; Last Rites To Be Held In Buxar On August 11

The last rites of eminent journalist and film critic Ajit Rai will take place in Buxar on 11 August. He died in London on 23 July. His body arrived in India today by a special plane.

Ajit Rai’s body was placed for the last darshan at the National School of Drama (NSD) in Mandi House, Delhi.

Bharat Express CMD and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai offered an emotional tribute by offering flowers to the departed soul. Writers, journalists, film critics and cultural personalities also gathered to honour him.

The moment reflected the respect for Ajit Rai’s contribution to art and cinema.

Final Journey to Native Village

The body is being taken by road from Delhi to Kasiyan village in Dumraon, near Buxar city in Bihar. His cremation will, however, be held there on Monday. Family members and fans will join the final journey to bid him a heartfelt farewell.

Ajit Rai served as editor of Rang Prasanga, the magazine of NSD under the Ministry of Culture. He was, however, an internationally respected drama and film critic.

His death in London caused deep sorrow in the world of literature and film reviews.

Recognised Voice in Cinema

Known as a true seeker of cinema, Ajit Rai made remarkable contributions to film criticism and cultural journalism. His work often appeared in Bharat Express, where his insight and analysis were valued. He represented Indian cinema at international platforms, including the Cannes Film Festival.

Writer Harivansh and several cultural figures paid tribute to him. His death marks an irreparable loss for the cinematic and cultural world. His reviews and writings inspired many young voices. While the funeral in Buxar will close this chapter, Ajit Rai’s legacy will live on among admirers.
