Bazm-e-Sahafat 2026: Bharat Express Honours Iqbal Ashhar, Anamika Jain Amber And Himanshi Babra

Bharat Express honoured renowned poets Iqbal Ashhar, Anamika Jain Amber and Himanshi Babra at the ‘Urdu Journalism Conclave’, organised under the ‘Bazm-e-Sahafat’ initiative in New Delhi.

The Bharat Express News Network organised the event at the India International Centre in collaboration with the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).

Iqbal Ashhar received the ‘Bharat Express Urdu Award 2026’ for his notable contribution to Urdu poetry.

Anamika Jain Amber received the ‘Bharat Express Hindi Samman 2026’ for her contribution and recognition in Hindi poetry, while young poet Himanshi Babra received the ‘Sitara-e-Sukhan Award 2026’ for her contribution to contemporary Urdu poetry.

Ashhar has maintained a strong association with Urdu poetry and has drawn on experiences and emotions from his time to shape his creative work. His poetry reflects his engagement with the Urdu literary tradition and its evolving expression.

Anamika Jain Amber uses poetry to express emotions and engage with society. Her work explores themes including love, human relationships, social sensitivities and different facets of life, establishing her as a recognised voice in Hindi poetry.

Himanshi Babra represents a younger generation of Urdu poets, bringing together literary traditions and contemporary emotions. Through her poetry, she explores themes of love, relationships and everyday experiences.

The conclave discussed Urdu, journalism, literature and political dialogue, with Kiren Rijiju attending as chief guest alongside other dignitaries.

Radheshyam Rai, Director and Group Managing Editor of Bharat Express News Network, delivered the keynote address, while NCPUL Director Dr Shams Iqbal gave the introductory remarks.

The event concluded with an All India Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan, where several poets, including Iqbal Ashhar, Anamika Jain Amber and Himanshi Babra, presented their work.
