Mukesh Ambani Receives Death Threat
Mukesh Ambani, the influential Chairman of Reliance Industries, found himself in a troubling situation this week as Mumbai Police revealed a death threat he received via email. The threatening message demanded a substantial ₹20 crore, coupled with a menacing ultimatum: “If you don’t give us 20 crore rupees, we will kill you. We have the best shooters in India.” The email, sent by an individual named Shadab Khan on October 27, promptly triggered a response from the police.
Security personnel at Mukesh Ambani’s opulent Mumbai residence, Antilia, were the first to report the death threat to the authorities. Subsequently, a formal complaint was filed, leading to the initiation of legal proceedings. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), specifically sections 387 (pertaining to putting a person in fear of death or grievous harm to commit extortion) and 506 (2) (related to criminal intimidation). In response to this serious threat, the police have launched a massive manhunt to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for sending the threatening email.
Unfortunately, this is not the first instance where Mukesh Ambani has been targeted with death threats. Last year, Mumbai Police arrested an individual from Bihar who had made anonymous calls, threatening not only Ambani but also his family members. The caller had explicitly threatened to “blow up” the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and the Ambani family’s iconic residence, Antilia, situated in South Mumbai.
The threats against Ambani escalated in 2021 when an explosives-laden SUV was discovered near his residence in South Mumbai. This incident sent shockwaves through the city. The vehicle’s owner, businessman Hiran, was subsequently found dead in a creek in the neighboring Thane area on March 5, 2021. This troubling history of threats and incidents continues to be a cause for concern, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures around one of India’s most prominent business leaders.
